What are the possible options for a day off in Georgia?

It will depend a lot on the time of year, but in general my recommendations for a 1 day itinerary would be as follows:

  • Fly trout on the Chattahoochee, the main river in the Atlanta metro area (half or one  day).

  • Catch giant striped bass or some of the six different types of black bass in the lakes north of town.

  • Go fishing or take a contemplative kayak tour.

  • Bike around Atlanta or other famous trails in the north  gives  City.

  • Go mountain bike trails (there are trails to suit everyone!)

  • Go eco-walks near Atlanta.

  • Discover some wonderful vineyards in the mountains of northern Georgia.

  • Take a tour of the best  Atlanta craft breweries.

  • Discover typical inland cities and enjoy local cuisine.

What are the possible options for more than one free day?

Again, it depends a lot on the time of year... One option is to group several of the one-day itineraries, other suggestions that need more than one day to be done in comfort are: :

  • Do some fishing on the lake and sleep  in a cottage by the lake.

  • Fish for trout in the beautiful rivers of the mountainous region of northern Georgia. Stay in the mountains .

  • Take lessons from fly-fishing instructors and then go fishing in the mountain rivers of northern Georgia.

  • Go to the coast and do coastal or ocean fishing. Take the opportunity to discover the beautiful city of Savannah (3 days).

  • Go mountain bike trails (there are trails to suit everyone!)

  • Go nature hikes on one of the many trails outside of Atlanta - Visit rivers, waterfalls, or  climb mountains.

  • Go down a rapid.

  • Rent a cottage on the lake, in the mountains or go camping.

  • Fish and hike in other states in the United States: North Carolina, South Carolina, Colorado, Oregon, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho,  Alaska, etc.

  • Georgia is the closest North American state to Brazil where river waters are still cold enough to serve  of habitat for trout. You  you don't need to travel to Montana for fly fishing!!!

  • Atlanta is a great starting point for our Northern Georgia mountain adventures - our destinations are about a 2-3 hour drive from Atlanta.

  • The region is beautiful, with a rich and diverse fauna and flora.

  • There is an hour from Atlanta, it is possible to do board fishing of several varieties of "Bass", including the "Striped Bass", or "Striper", as it is also known.

  • There is also the possibility of fishing with kayaks in lakes and rivers near Atlanta.

  • There are at least 3 types of trout in Georgia: "Rainbow" (rainbow); "Brown" and the native "Brook".

  • For inshore fishing the distance is longer, approximately 5 hours by car from Atlanta, but the region is beautiful!

  • In addition to fishing, there are  several other outdoor activities for every type of adventurer: bicycle tours, mountain bike tours, kayaking on lakes or rivers, rapids descent, hiking, visits to waterfalls, camping, chalet rental, fishing lessons with fly, etc.

  • We cannot fail to mention, as additional outdoor options, the excellent micro-breweries and the vineyard region, the latter very little known internationally but much visited by the locals.
